Vancouver Harbour Report, Feb 21/22
Well it was a little bit tough weekend. There was a couple of decent fish picked up this weekend but nothing to write home about. One of our fellow guides picked up a nice fish in the 16-18 pound range on Saturday morning in Vancouver. I had a short afternoon charter on Saturday afternoon. We fished the West Van tack, and hooked one nice chinook and a couple shakers. Sunday was tough as well with only a couple little guys to show for the day. Crabbing was solid with lots of nice keepers. Fishing has tapered off since the good fishing we had in January and early February. Just gotta wait for another push of winter chinook to roll through local waters. February and March are prime months for winter chinook.
I heard from a couple different sources that a pod of killer whales were charging around the harbour on Sunday. This could have been a contributing factor to the slow fishing this weekend. Hopefully they took care of a few of the problem seals in the bay while they were here.
