img_19292 Landed a couple beauties with Craig and Leo today. After doing some work on the boats in the morning we decided to take advantage of the brilliant sunshine and the mid day tide change to fish the inner harbour. We got the gear in the water just after noon. The tide was pretty mixed up for the first hour. As soon as the tide calmed down we got a good pop off and hooked and landed a mint 14-15 pound winter chinook salmon. About an hour later as the flood started to kick in we hooked another good one. After a couple good runs, a local harbour seal latched on to it. After a good tug of war with the seal we were eventually victorious and brought another good sized winter spring to the net. The fish was a little larger than the first, albeit with a bit of seal damage. The fish would have been in the 15-16 pound range if it was not missing a chunk of it’s belly. We hooked another good fish around 5pm but it quickly got off. The fish that we hooked were on coyotes. What a beauty of a day on the water with calm water and a couple solid fish in the mid teens, fishing 10 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
