BON CHOVY FISHING REPORT-END OF JUNE
Well what a good stretch of fishing we had for the second half of June. We had a couple of tough charters, but all in all it was one of the better months of June we have seen for quite some time. The coho salmon rolled in very good numbers in the second and third weeks of June and provided local anglers with some real good action. On a few trips we hooked over a dozen coho off the West Vancouver shoreline. The coho fishing slowed down a little bit during the latter part of last week with the rainfall we had. Things have improved over the last day or so with more and more coho showing. Intermingled with the coho there have been some nice chinook mixed in as well. Both our charters on Sunday both landed both coho and chinook off the West Vancouver shoreline.
Jason Tonelli on the Salty Dog and Preston on the Seastar were both able to make it out off the Fraser River mouth on Saturday to target some of the big returning chinook salmon that have been showing recently. Both boats got into a good number of fish. Most of them were jack chinook but both boats landed chinook in the mid 20’s and lost a big fish each. The Fraser Mouth is always a good bet in the summer as the fish stage for the river.
Vancouver Harbour has had some nice fish as well. We have landed a few coho, undersize chinook, and the odd big chinook. This morning Bon Chovy landed a chinook in the mid twenties in Vancouver harbour.
It looks like a very promising stretch of fish coming up with solid coho fishing and some nice chinooks thrown in as well.
