VANCOUVER HARBOUR REPORT. JUNE 24
We had an excellent charter this morning!!!! The coho salmon were very cooperative with lots of bites to be had. The West Van shoreline was stacked with bait and the coho were aggressively feeding on small herring and crab larvae. The fish were scattered from Navy Jack all the way down to the research center. It did not seem to matter to much where you fished as long as you were tacking in 15-70 feet of water. We had the bulk of our success on hootchies fished fairly shallow and trolled fast. We had good action throughout the morning with 14 salmon hitting the gear. We did not land them all as some fish were lost to seals and some just didn’t hook up. Our guests still went home with some nice coho for the bbq. There was a couple other charter boats out as well who also had good success. This years coho fishery has been the best we have seen in quite a few years, especially this early in the season.
