FRASER MOUTH UPDATE AUG 31

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 8:38 am

YESTERDAY WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FOR PINK SALMON!!! THE ACTION OFF THE FRASER MOUTH WAS AS CRAZY WE HAVE EVER SEEN IT. THOUSANDS OF FISH WERE BOILING AND JUMPING DURING THE LAST FEW HOURS OF THE FLOOD TIDE OF THE FRASER LAST NIGHT. DOUBLES, TRIPLES, AND QUADRUPLE HEADERS WERE THE NORM. VAN HERRING AND BON CHOVY WERE BOTH OUT THERE AND EACH BOAT HOOKED 30-50 SALMON. BON CHOVY WENT BACK INTO VANCOUVER HARBOUR TO TARGET CHINOOKS AFTER THE FRASER MOUTH AND HOOKED 3 CHINOOK JACKS AND A REALLY NICE HATCHERYCOHO. THERE WERE SOME DECENT REPORTS OF BIG CHINOOK IN THE HARBOUR YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.aug-2-044

AUG 28/09 Report

We had a reasonable day on the water today on Bon Chovy. We had a crack at a couple nice chinook salmon and some pinks. We ended the morning charter with a nice chinook and a couple pinks to take back to the dock. Young energetic Lochlan did very well today landed the biggest pink salmon on our boats this year…it was close to 7 pounds!!!!LOCHLAN WITH THE DAYS CATCH. 2 PINKS AND A CHINOOK

Fishing over the last few days has been decent with nice chinooks hooked on almost every charter as well as decent numbers of pinks. The killer whales were in our area recently so they did slow the bite a bit midweek. This is the time of year where there are some big chinook in local waters!!!!

THERE WERE BETTER NUMBERS OF CHINOOK IN VANCOUVER HARBOUR YESTERDAY. ALL OF OUR CHARTERS YESTERDAY HOOKED BIG CHINOOK! YOUNG SHAWN FISHING ON BON CHOVY WAS ABLE TO LAND THE BIGGEST FISH OF THE DAY…A HARD FIGHTING 26 POUNDER!!!!! HE WAITED PATIENTLY GETTING WARMED UP ON PINK SALMON AND UNDERSIZE CHINOOK BEFORE HIS BIG ONE HIT. SHAWN PLAYED HIS BIG CHINOOK LIKE A PRO…GOOD JOB SHAWN!!!

THE FISHING OVER THE WEEKEND WAS PRETTY ACTIVE WITH QUITE OF FEW PINK SALMON, SOCKEYE SALMON(MUST BE RELEASED), UNDERSIZE CHINOOK HITTING THE GEAR. THE NICE THING ABOUT THIS TIME OF YEAR IS MULTIPLE SPECIES OF SALMON AROUND. THEY HELP KEEP THINGS ACTIVE WHILE THE BIG ONES ARE OFF THE BITE.

Sunday produced better numbers of big chinook salmom for the local fleet. All of our charters yesterday hooked big fish. The biggest fish of the day was young Shawn’s 26 pound chinook on Bon Chovy. He waited patiently weeding through the pink salmon and juvenile chinook and finally got his big one in the afternoon!!!! Good job Shawn, you played it like a pro!!!!

The chinook right now are coming in waves and persistence is paying off with some quality hook ups. The nice thing about this time of year is the other species of salmon that are hitting while targetting. The pink salmon, sockeye(must be released), undersize chinook, and the odd coho have definately kept the rods moving while waiting for the big chinook to hit.

WE HAVE HAD SOME GOOD ACTIVITY ON OUR CHARTERS OVER THE LAST COUPLE DAYS. WE LANDED SOME NICE CHINOOK, INCREASING AMOUNT OF PINKS, A FEW COHO, AND RELEASED QUITE A FEW SOCKEYE OVER THE LAST COUPLE DAYS. EVERYDAY THE NUMBERS OF PINKS ARE INCREASING DAILY AND THEY SUPPLEMENT THE ACTION QUITE NICELY. THE BELL BUOY, THE CAP, AND THE FRASER MOUTH ARE ALL KICKING OUT FISH. THERE STILL ARE SOME SLOW STRETCHES DURING THE DAY BUT PERSISTENCE IF PAYING OFF.img_0359img_03611

AUG 16 UPDATE

Another decent morning out off the Bell Buoy. Good numbers of chinooks up to 35 pounds were hooked and landed by the fleet this morning. Anchovies from 25-80 feet seem to be the ticket for most. All of our charters in the morning hooked nice chinook up to 25 pounds. A couple pinks were caught and a couple sockeye were released as well. This is the time for big chinooks in Vancouer harbour….get out there! There seem to be more and more pinks everyday as well. Soon there will be millions around. img_03511img_0353

There was a solid chinook bite this morning in Vancouver Harbour. Good numbers of chinook in the 15-30 pound chinook were hooked between 7-11am this morning. Our boats were able to land some nice fish including a couple in the mid to high twenties. The Salty Dog ventured down to the Sand Heads for a few hours in the afternoon but only managed to hook into a few sockeye.(released). Looking forward to see what happens tomorrow as today was one of the more active mornings for big chinook over the last few days. Will post some pics from todays trips shortly.Eddie and his guests with a couple nice chinook from Friday morning

AFTER THE GREAT CHINOOK FISHING WE ENJOYED A FEW DAYS AGO THINGS HAVE SLOWED DOWN. THERE ARE STILL NICE CHINOOK BEING CAUGHT EVERYDAY BUT WE ARE JUST IN BETWEEN WAVES OF CHINOOKS. THIS IS STILL PRIME TIME FOR CHINOOKS SO WE SHOULD SEE PULSES OF BIG FISH CONTINUE TO COME THROUGH. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW COHO AND PINKS CAUGHT OFF WEST VAN, AS WELL AS A FEW SOCKEYE BEING RELEASED. SOON THE MASSES OF PINK SALMON WILL BE HERE OFF THE FRASER. WE HAVE LOTS OF TRIPS OUT OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS SO UPDATES WILL FOLLOW.bellboy-spring
