JULY 1 REPORT

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 6:06 pm

Sorry about the lack of udates lately.. I just finished a 3 week coastal fishing trip from Vancouver to the Alaskan border chasing big chinook salmon!!

Today, the local action picked up with some nice coho salmon up to 8 pounds and a few larger chinook salmon hooked.  The majority of the fleet was working the western half of the West Vancouver shoreline with pretty decent success.  Most boats had a crack at 5-10 fish this morning so not too bad at all.  With the drying trend in the forecast we should see the numbers of fish increase daily.  Right now there is an incredible amount of crab larvae in English Bay.  The fish are definately feeding on them.  Hootchies in pale and white colours seem to be the ticket right now from 20-60 feet.

The Gulf Islands kicked out a few fish up to 25 pounds today as well.

Finally some clear, hot weather is forecasted in a few days….Finally we can be catching fish in our shorts and flip flops again.
