Vancouver BC Fishing Charters

October 17th Report

Both Van Herring and Bon Chovy were out on charters this morning in the sunshine!  Calm water and a good flood tide made for ideal conditions!   Both boats hooked a couple nice chinook!  With the continued dry weather forecasted  for the next little while we could be in for some improved fishing.  This next week or so should be the final kick at can for big mature chinook off the Cap Mouth.  There is supposed to be a little of rain late this week which might actually be a good thing for the fishery!  Once this fishery dies off we will be shifting our focus to winter chinook!! One of our favourite fisheries!!  Bon Chovy landed a beautiful 29.5 inch winter chinook last week, a sign of things to come!!!!!   Give us a call to book a chinook charter!  The weather looks great for the next week!

October 12th Udpate

The heavy rains over the last week have definately slowed the Capilano Mouth Chinook Fishery down.  There is still some fish being hooked on a daily basis, but it is nowhere near as good as it was last week!   We have averaged 2 to 4 hook ups a trip on chinook and coho recently.    The Capilano River crested yesterday at a very high level and it is now on the drop.  By later this week we should see the river drop way down and the numbers of chinook salmon holding at the mouth of the river increase.  The forecast looks like it should be dry for the next week so we should see another bump of chinook start holding off the mouth and the fishing pick up again.  We are hoping anyway!

We headed out with our good friend Rick Clark from the World Fishing Network and had an epic morning fishing for chinook salmon off the Cap Mouth last week…  Here is the video!

October 5th….Bite Goes On!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 8:42 pm

Another great day on the water!  Calm seas and chrome chinook made for a perfect day!   Fishing was solid boating our 4 chinooks for our limit in just under 3 hours!  We also lost one to a pesky harbour seal and missed a few more.   Chovies were the ticket for us today!

We still have some room this long weekend! Give us a call to take a crack on the best local fishery in Vancouver!    604.763.5460

Vancouver Fishing Update…Oct 4th

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 6:36 pm

We have had some incredible results over the last few days!   Amazing numbers of chinook in the 12 to 30 pound range continue to roll into Vancouver Harbour!  On average we have been hooking 6 to 15 chinook a trip!   Pretty solid chinook fishing being 5 minutes from downtown Vancouver!

Bait has been the way to go trolled in the bottom third of the water column off West Vancouver.  The flood tide has been the most productive as per usual, but we had some good results on the ebb tide on the weekend as well!  The fish we are seeing are still nice and bright meaning that the run is not going to be over anytime soon!  Barring no consistent heavy rain on a we should easily see this fishery go into the third or even fourth week of October.

SEPT 26 REPORT! AMAZING FISHING CONTINUES!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 7:00 pm

The local chinook fishery in Vancouver Harbour has been the best in recent memory!  We have had the odd slow day, but on average we have been landing 3-7 big chinook per trip!!   ”Van Herring” was out on a trip in the wind and rain today and limited out 3 guests on chinook in just a few hours.  He brought 6 chinook back to the dock and released a couple that were a little on the dark side!  Bon Chovy and Van Herring were both on afternoon trips yesterday and they kept 4 and 3 chinook for their trips yesterday!  Saturday was a bit on the slow side but both Van Herring and Bon Chovy got a couple good chinook each!  Friday was another great day with a limit of chinook, including our biggest fish of the year!   39 pounds!!!!!!  Last Thursday was amazing with over 20 chinook hitting the gear and a limit of 8 chinook kept and a couple fish released!

These fish are coming in waves and everyday is different, but this is shaping up to be one heck of fall chinook fishery in Vancouver Harbour!  We have availability on Sunday this weekend!  Give us a call if you want to head out on the water.  This fishery can typically last into the third week of October!

Huge Day On Chinook!!! Sept 22nd

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 8:36 pm

After last nights heavy rain I was pretty worried that a lot of the chinook that have been staging in Vancouver Harbour would shoot into the river!  Not the case….at all!   It sucked a new wave of fish into the harbour!  Today was probably one of the best days I have seen out there in recent memory with over 20 chinook hitting the gear in a few hours.    We were supposed to be on an all day trip today with one our long time repeat groups, but we limited out on chinook in pretty short order! ! So instead of fishing, we came in early  for beers and lunch at Cardero’s!

We had all of our bites on anchovies and herring at  40-90 feet!

Now is prime time for big Vancouver Harbour Chinook.  Having said that things can change pretty quick and slow with extended periods of rain.

Sept 19th Report

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 12:00 pm

The Vancouver Harbour Chinook fishery is in full swing and we have been landing lots of chinook in the 15 to 30 pound range.  Most of the fish seem to be in the 15 to 22 pound range.  There is also some decent numbers of coho around.  Over the last week we have been averaging 5-12 hook ups a trip on mature chinook.  Herring and anchovies have been the ticket for this river bound chinook!

Give us a call if you want to book a trip….we have a little bit of room this weekend and have week day openings! If it stays reasonably dry we should see this fishery continue into the latter part of October!!!

Chinook Fishing on Fire!!! Sept 16th

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 10:11 pm

The last few days have been nothing short of spectacular!  Over the last few days big numbers of chinook have rolled into Vancouver Harbour!  On our last 3 charters we have hooked 10-15 chinook!  On Wednesday afternoon, we landed 8 chinook in the 15-22 pound range in under 3 hours. This is not to mention lost fish and jacks!!.  The last 2 mornings have been equally as good!  There has been a good number of coho mixed in as well!

Fishing is as good as it gets for mature chinook right now in Vancouver!  The mature chinook fishing goes until the 3rd week of October!  The fish come in waves and if you hit it right, chances are good for a stellar day!  There will surely be the odd slower day in coming weeks, but fishing should remain consistent until the big fall rains start!

We are fishing 5 minutes from our dock right now!  Give us a call if you want to book a charter…  We are booked up this weekend, but have a bit of room over the next couple weekends!

Sept 4 Report!! WOW

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jason @ 2:20 pm

The fishing over the last couple weeks has been nothing short of spectacular!  .  Over the last few days we have landed lots of sockeye, tons of pinks, good numbers of big chinooks up to 35.5 pounds and the odd hatchery coho!  Vancouver Harbour is literally boiling with salmon!  Quite a sight  to be seen!

September is an even more exciting month to fish as it is when our biggest fish of the year show up!!!  Yesterday, we got a 35.5 pounder and a few in the mid 20’s!

Later this month and into October we will see the start of  one of our favourite fisheries!  The West Vancouver Big Chinook Fishery!  This fishery is amazing as it provides great opportunity to catch chinook salmon up to 40 pounds only 5 minutes from our dock at the Westin Bayshore!
