Vancouver Fishing Report, May 29th
Fishing has continued to be very consistent with some solid numbers of chinook salmon on the far side of Georgia Strait. Gabriola, Snake, and Entrance Island have all been producing fish up to 30 pounds. There has been fish offshore as well as inshore on the structure. The Gulf Island's are and will be the place to be over the next few weeks!
We have been having all of our success on spoons and hootchies. The spoons that we had success on are the Kitchen Sink, No Bananas, and Irish Cream. The Yamashita green and chartreuse spackleback have been the best hootchies. We have been running our lures behind Gibbs Highliner Green or Chartreuse glow flashers. Productive depths have ranged from 60 feet all the way down to 190 feet. Keep a good spread on your gear and dial things in once you start getting hits.
There has been quite a few coho salmon over the last week as well. Coho have to be released right now, but the retention of hatchery coho begins on June 1st over on the Gulf Islands. The strong early numbers of coho bodes very well for our coho fishery that will get underway in Vancouver Harbour in a few weeks!
Give us a call to book a Gulf Island Charter! We are pretty booked up until Sunday, but have availability next week and next weekend!
