Vancouver Fishing Report, July 3rd
It is safe to say that summer is finally here! We have had some stunning days on the water with very warm temperatures and clear skies. Fishing over the last handful of days has been a little more inconsistent than what we were hoping for. There has definitely been fish around, but we have had to put our time in over on the Gulf Island's and in local Vancouver waters.
The Gulf Island's are still producing some chinook and coho, but not the numbers that we were getting a couple weeks back. Most of our trips over the weekend hooked 2 to 5 good chinook salmon a trip. The ling cod fishing was good and Van Herring picked up another halibut on Saturday. Expect waves of chinook to keep showing over on the Gulf Island's. There will be good days and slower days over the next month.
Locally, things are perking up a bit, but are still quite slow. There are a few coho showing on the West Vancouver shoreline and there are chinook being caught in Howe Sound. Things can only get better this week and we should see a big push of coho to Vancouver Harbour and a bump of Squamish Bound chinook salmon very soon!
